A new diagnosis

We took Brinson to see Dr. Rossell today. The main reason was that she's developing hair prematurely (pubic and underarm) as well as mammary tissue. It has been going on for awhile now but seems to have progressed so we went to get it checked out. (Not something we would usually blog about). She's been diagnosed with Precocious puberty and we are to see an Endocrinologist to get a full workup.
Also, I've been under some stress lately because I feel like I'm micro-examining my daughter and freaking out about every little thing. My problem is I don't know what are "quirks" and what might be concerning. These things usually happen during feeding time. They are eye-rolling (and not THAT kind of eye rollin, geez), repetitive side to side head motion (like saying no) and a "winking" of one eye. There are other little things that she does that I've been told are normal.
I just got a laugh because I read back what I typed.....eye rollin, sayin no....am i missing something? LOL
Seriously though, I voiced those concerns to the doc and she is recommending that we get in to see the developmental doctor for an evaulation. The down side to that is I hear there's a 4 month wait to see him.....ugh.
Welcome to motherhood.........
Oh, and did I mention, I think Im "perimenopausal". I find out what's wrong with me on Weds when it's my turn to see the doc. Wouldn't that be ironic if B and I both had hormonal problems?!?

Don't blame yourself Lisa, on top of the preemie stuff, you are still a first-time mommy! It is natural for us to worry! I do it all the time (literally, ALL THE TIME) with Zachary. I hope your appointment goes well with your doctor and that Brinson's tests (by the endocrinolist) show she's just fine, only getting a bit ahead of her self.

Love ya!

Lisa,

I do the exact same thing with Janai. Adrian tells me I look too much, but I dont care. I try to notice everything because I'm afraid to miss some problem that might need assesment asap.

In fact, I also noticed pubic hair, bigger boobies, and the pregnancy line in Janai's stomach. I dont think she's got underarm hair (will check tonight!). Dr. Rossell sent us to the Endo, as well. I already called and they are supposed to call me back. How weird, huh? I was like "is she going to start having periods?!!!"

Good luck, and I hope that our daugthers problems are not a big deal.
